24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)

24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring, also called Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM), is an advanced diagnostic tool used to measure your blood pressure continuously over a 24-hour period—during your normal daily activities and even while you sleep. This gives a comprehensive and accurate assessment of your blood pressure behavior in real-life conditions.

What Makes ABPM Important?

Unlike a single blood pressure reading at the clinic, ABPM captures daytime and nighttime blood pressure variations, identifying patterns that might otherwise go undetected. It is particularly valuable in:

Confirming true hypertension

How the Test Works

You will be fitted with a compact, portable BP monitor connected to a cuff worn on your upper arm. This device automatically records your blood pressure at regular intervals—typically every 15 to 30 minutes during the day and every 30 to 60 minutes at night. You’ll wear the monitor for a full 24 hours and carry on with your usual routine, making it a non-invasive and hassle-free test.

Key Advantages

What Happens After the Test?

Once the monitoring period ends, your doctor will analyze the collected data to determine whether your blood pressure levels require lifestyle changes, medication adjustments, or further investigation. The results allow for a more informed and proactive approach to your heart health.
